Tension

Tensión

2019, Installation: Red nylon stockings, metal hoops and rocks
La Centrale Powerhouse Gallery, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Tension is a textile installation made of red pantyhose and rocks, which physically and conceptually connects the body with the place it occupies. Visitors can walk around and explore the piece, thus experiencing our bodies' relationship to space, borders, and boundaries. Tension intertwines textile narratives that sustain and are structured by the memories, experiences, and places that shape us, embodying the tense—but still versatile and strong—social formations and cultural relations involved in the construction of our identity.
